My family never did get another dog after Sasha, I suppose the pain was too strong and my parents didn't want to encounter another tearful goodbye. Growing up, I knew I would have another dog in my life. That perfect home one dreams of as they begin to visualize their future? Well, mine always had a dog lounging on the couch beside me. So when my husband and I established a life for ourselves, we began our search for the missing piece.
With limited pet ownership experience (me with Sasha as a kid, Ryan never having owned a pet), little did we know the lessons we'd encounter with our Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, Marshall. He is our carpet staining, photo over-sharing, fur emitting, alarm clock substituting, slobber wiping, smile giving, toe warming, little bear cub. He has been a part of our family for a mere three months, but has already supplied a lifetime of love. He will never replace Sasha, but he reminds me of her loyalty and companionship each day. He is our family. This is an account of the heartwarming, hilarious, and altogether frustrating misadventures we experience with our Marshall.
